South African Retailer Lists Next-Gen ASUS ROG Zephyrus Laptop With AMD Ryzen “Strix Point” APU & 32 GB LPDDR5X Memory
Just yesterday, we reported a range of upcoming ASUS laptops in the ROG, TUF & ProArt range. It looks like the information regarding these products has already been passed over to distributors & tech retailers who have started listing them. One such retail listing was made over at Onlinetechsa, a tech outlet based in South Africa, which lists down the next-gen “GA605WI-O93210G0W” laptop.
The ASUS ROG Zephyrus “GA605WI-O93210G0W” is going to be a high-end laptop that will adopt a 16″ design with a WQXGA OLED display. We can expect some high-end specifications with the most important highlight being the chip itself which is based on AMD’s next-gen Ryzen “Strix Point” APU. The laptop has been listed with up to twelve Zen 5 cores which should equal 24 threads & 24 MB of L3 cache. The AMD Ryzen “Strix Point” APUs are expected to utilize the Ryzen 8050 branding as per the latest leak from Lenovo.
The specific naming of this chip isn’t confirmed yet but we can expect it to be something like the AMD Ryzen 9 8955HS. As for other specifications, the upcoming ASUS ROG Zephyrus laptop will be equipped with 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory, 1 TB of PCIe Gen4 SSD, & will be running the Windows 11 operating system. As for the price, the laptop has been listed for 69,100 South African Rand and that converts to around $3700 US. This is just a preliminary listing as we don’t expect the laptop to cost anywhere near that and should realistically be priced around $1500-$2000 US.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus “GA605WI” Laptop Features:
- 12 Core AMD Strix Point “Ryzen 8050” APU
- 16″ WQXGA OLED Display
- 32 GB LPDDR5X Memory
- 1 TB PCIe Gen4 SSD Storage
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 8 GB GPU
In terms of GPU choices, the AMD Ryzen “Strix Point” APU should carry a very capable RDNA 3 iGPU with 16 compute units on the top SKU but it looks like most high-end laptops will be configured with a dedicated GPU and NVIDIA is seen in action here.
The ASUS ROG Zephyrus “GA605WI” in particular features the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU but other models should come with the RTX 4060 and RTX 4050 options too. The launch of the AMD Ryzen “Strix Point” 8050 APUs is expected by mid of Q3 2024 so expect a formal announcement during Computex 2024.
